Okay, so I wasn’t sure whether to write this blog post, for purely selfish reasons which I’ll explain. As property is our passion we often find ourselves scrolling through the selection of homes we have for sale on our website. This property in particular was valued and marketed by another member of our team so when I came across it I instantly fell in love and must admit, rather than wanting to find this home a buyer, I wanted to keep it for myself!
I started to imagine how I would transform it into my forever home but instead, I’m going to share my passion for this period property with you…
Hidden in the heart of Caerleon village this period home is a unique property that you’ve probably passed hundreds of times without even noticing it. I have lived in Caerleon my whole life and for 6 months I even lived within a stone’s throw of this property yet I never knew it existed! Situated on Mill Street the substantial, semi-detached home is accessed via Broadwell Court just off the one-way system, can you picture it yet? Concealed behind a wall and mature trees you’ll find this stunning four-bedroom home filled with character and period features.
Come on in…
The entrance hallway features traditional Victorian tiled flooring leading to a large staircase that twists to the upper floor. The rest of the ground floor consists of a large living room, dining room, kitchen and WC all boasting high ceilings and period features. Imagine family get-togethers, dinner with friends or just a Sunday afternoon relaxing in front of the fire. I have already planned Christmas dinner, summer garden parties and one hell of a housewarming for when I make this house my home. Hey, I can dream, can’t I?!
Beyond the twisted staircase, you’ll find four impressive bedrooms and a family bathroom. The large sash windows perfectly frame the views of the rear garden and front entranceway and are awaiting your personal touch to transform these empty spaces into the perfect place to lay your head. I’m still undecided about which room will be my walk-in wardrobe, it may not be a practical choice but who cares, this is my dream!
This extraordinary home, of course, includes a basement with two separate cellar rooms, once used for storage and survival but now would make the perfect home for a rather large selection of my favourite wine! In fact, I think I may lift my rule of ABC (anything but Chardonnay) and have a shelf for every type, colour and flavour of wine.
Beyond the walls…
For when you venture past the courtyard, patio, lawn and mature garden you’ll find yourself in my favourite place, the village of Caerleon. Within walking distance of this stunning home are many local shops, pubs and restaurants. Aside from the notable Roman history behind Caerleon, its location in the present day is also pretty impressive. Local primary and secondary schools are just a short walk away, the M4 corridor to Bristol and Cardiff is 10 minutes away and the new Grange University Hospital is less than 4 miles away.
My love for this home leaves me torn. Making it my forever home may be just a dream but if you are looking for a project in the heart of this beautiful village then I will happily show you around. The team and I are looking forward to finding this home the owners it deserves and watching them transform the space into something special for years to come.
