As you light your log burner, cwtch up in a blanket or pour yourself warm cider we have found some simple ways to make your home smell like autumn using the popular scents above.

Cinnamon is number two on the list and we’re not surprised, you can fill your home with this popular scent by hanging a cinnamon stick or cinnamon pinecones. In addition to its appealing aroma, cinnamon also has several health benefits. You can use the cinnamon spice in your food as it has anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, as well as prebiotic properties which may improve gut health and reduce blood pressure.

You can use a selection of the popular autumnal fragrances to create your own simmer pot. Basically, there’s no wrong way of doing this and you can create a scent that you love for your home. Start with filling a large pot with water then begin to add your autumn-inspired ingredients. Consider using orange peel, lemon slices, cinnamon sticks, vanilla, apples, pine needles or some essential oil and set to simmer.

This might be one of our most favourite ways to get your home smelling like autumn as it also involves eating! Baking is a great way to ensure your home smells delicious and allows you to treat your family and friends to something that tastes great too. Search for recipes for Apple Cake, Pumpkin Pie and Cinnamon Rolls.

Next time you pop to the shops look out for scented cleaning products and candles. Obviously, you’d expect cinnamon, ginger and spiced apple scented candles to be everywhere, which they are, but you can also buy scented cleaning products to use on your floors worktops and even when washing the dishes.

Autumn, more than any other season, encompasses the feeling of comfort and warmth as we brace against the cold together. These festive scents along with bright orange flames and flickering candles can influence potential buyers into feeling at home in your house.
