I think we can all agree that it’s been a very strange 12 months, summer 2021 will thankfully be a little more ‘normal’, whatever that is! As the kids break up from school for the summer holidays every parent is looking for ideas to keep them entertained for the next 6 weeks.
We are sharing some of our favourite local attractions for you to enjoy with your family this summer.
The Wetlands
Nestled between the Severn Estuary and the River Usk, the wetlands is a pretty nature reserve that covers more than 1,000 acres of land where you can spot a variety of breeding birds such as ringed plovers, lapwings, redshanks and oystercatchers. The visitor centre is free to enter with an area to picnic, a park and endless trails to enjoy a walk through the reserve.
Cwmcarn Forest
Choose between an adrenaline-fuelled mountain bike ride, water activities or a simple stroll around Cwmcarn Forest. On each visit, you can choose a different route and enjoy the adventure playground, the views or even just stop off for a cuppa! You can now also extend your escape to nature by staying in one of their glamping pods, luxury lodges or on the campsite.
National Diving & Activity Centre
Located in Tidenham, Chepstow this activity centre has something for everyone. The wire zip slide, aqua park, giant 3G swing, fly boards and drive-in cinema are just a few of the activities for you to enjoy with the whole family. If you can’t fit everything in in one-day wooden wigwam accommodation is available.
Mountain View Ranch
If you, like many parents, read The Gruffalo to your children then you need to book a visit to the Mountain View Ranch which boasts Wales’ only officially licensed Gruffalo Trail. Watch your little one’s faces light up when they spot a magical fairy forest, hobbit house or wonky cottage.
Greenmeadow Community Farm
Situated on our doorstep in Cwmbran, Greenmeadow has been a working farm for over 250 years and is now run by an enthusiastic group of locals inviting the neighbouring community and beyond to meet their wide range of animals who call Greenmeadow home.
Cefn Mably Farm Park
Cefn Mably was severely affected by Covid and Storm Dennis which caused significant damage to the popular farm but the team have come back stronger than ever bringing you a fun-filled day out. From petting areas to crazy golf to train rides there’s enough to do here to keep you coming back every month!
Pontypridd Lido
If the paddling pool in the back garden isn’t really cutting it, head to the lido in Pontypridd. At just £2 for adults and FREE for children under 16 this day out won’t break the bank but will make lots of memories. Our advice is to take a picnic and enjoy the park next to the lido after your swim.
Techniquest
Do you really live in South Wales if you haven’t been to Techniquest?! Whether you went with your grandparents or on a school trip you’ll remember that there are plenty of fun things to do and learn at the popular interactive experience.
We hope we’ve inspired you to live local over the next 6 weeks and enjoy the activities that are on your doorstep. If you are planning on moving home this summer then contact our sales team for a free market-led valuation, you might be surprised by how much your home is worth.
