So you’ve all heard the saying “all you need is love” well, as much as we agree with this, we also need lunch! January is a hard month for businesses and people in general, many of us are dieting or trying to save money meanwhile your local businesses are working hard to keep their businesses afloat. We’ve asked our team in Caerleon for their favourite places to grab a bite to eat so if they’re ever missing from the office you might find them here…
Fresh Start – Located just a few steps away from our office is Fresh Start. Kyle and Alex are on first name terms with the team at Fresh Start mainly because they can’t stay away from their bagels, wraps, jacket potatoes, coffee…basically the whole menu! Open 6 days a week in the busy area of Caerleon Common we must add a disclaimer for this post that we can’t be held responsible for how many times you’ll visit here once you’ve tasted their lunches!
The Village Bakery – Situated in the heart of the village the bakery itself has been a big part of the area for as long as we can remember. We don’t want to give away our age but during our school years, we’d come to the bakery for a warm buttered baguette and a cake! Serving some of the best and reasonably priced coffee around the bakery also sells delicious pasties, breads and cakes that you can smell from the end of Backhall Street. Our favourite is their delicious sourdough, we’ve been known to eat a whole loaf paired with our favourite cheese in one sitting!
The Snug – As cosy as its name suggests, The Snug is probably Caerleon’s most popular place to enjoy breakfast or lunch. Nestled in the heart of the Ffwrwm you can enjoy your meal surrounded by Caerleon’s Roman heritage including carvings of the ancient tales of Wales. Further into the Ffwrwm you’ll find quaint shops and galleries that together create the perfect place for our community to come together to chat, eat and shop.
The Green Coffee Lounge – This coffee shop has had a few names over the years, some of you may remember it as The Drovers, but the current owners have transformed this traditional pub into a friendly popular coffee lounge. Alongside a hot cup of your favourite coffee, the menu at the Green also includes their Lunch Club Specials and one of the best breakfasts around. One of our team attended a baby shower last summer in their rear garden and the service and food were excellent, next we’ll try their popular bottomless brunch!
