Charles Williams Summer Fayre …. Phil Hathway becomes the Mayor for the Day!We are proud sponsors of Charles Williams Primary School and enjoy supporting the annual Christmas and Summer Fayres that the school hold. A couple of weeks ago we were proud to attend Charles Williams Primary PTFA annual Summer Fayre, this is an extremely successful annual event where all the community come together to support the school and their pupils and the PTFA work extremely hard to make sure everything runs smoothly. It is also a lovely time to see the sea of purple Hathways boards throughout the village advertising the Summer Fayre. However this year was a little different, we were definitely more involved with the Summer Fayre, we were honoured to be asked to judge the annual cake competition along with Diane from Caerleon WI. This was an extremely hard job as they were all absolutely fantastic, the children had made the cakes with the youngest being reception age at just 4 years old right up until Year 6.On the day of the Fayre Phil Hathway, as the main school sponsor, found himself being asked to step in at the last minute to open the Fayre as the Mayor was ill and unable to attend. Of course, Phil was honoured to be asked to do this and stepped up to the job of opening the Summer Fayre and thanking everyone for all their hard work and thanking the Local Community for all help given, also announcing the winners of the competitions for the Cake, Photography and Book Character Potato competition. Our colleagues Becki and Emily also attended the Fayre, they ran the Hathways stall, giving out balloons to all the children and holding our very own Hathways Competitions for the Children, Build your own Lego House and Design your own Hathways Logos colouring competition. The children were fantastic and so enthusiastic, they made some excellent Lego Houses and did design some lovely bright Design Logos for Hathways. We always appreciate the children's designs and we can learn a lot from them. There were two lucky winners who won Cinema Vouchers, again this competition was extremely hard to judge as all the entries were amazing! It really is lovely to see Charles Williams Primary PTFA and the Local Community pulling together with such an amazing community spirit, even the Local Newport County Players Joe Day and Michael Flynn were in attendance and were involved with the Beat the Goalie Stall. A Fantastic Grand Total of £3,497.49 was raised on the day. This really is a massive amount and an amazing achievement which will greatly benefit the children of Charles Williams Primary School and just goes to show what a local community can do!Also please remember our special offer for Charles Williams Primary School, if you or anyone you know sells a property with Hathways we will donate £100, upon completion, to the school. All you have to do is introduce someone you know and at the stage of listing if they mention the scheme/school name they will qualify. The property doesn’t even have to be in the same area as the school, but your school will still benefit! Please get in contact we love being able to help the local community in this way. It's quite simple, the more people use our services locally, the more we can help!
