A home is more than the walls that enclose you; it is the neighbourhood and the environment that surround you. We are blessed where we live to have both the countryside and city living so close by, but not only that, we attract some major and exciting events that bring the area alive. With the effects of Brexit looming, we’re encouraging you to live local and enjoy what your home town has to offer. From football to food, there’s something for everyone – and it’s all happening on your doorstep.

Here are five events our team are excited about this year that you and your family may wish to add to your diary.

Celebrate sport

Whether you prefer rugby or football, Wales has it all this year, with the Six Nations, Euros and Autumn Internationals. Some of the rugby matches will, of course, be held in Wales and although international football is not being played locally you will still be able to watch every game live from your local pub. If you really want to immerse yourself in the game, head into Cardiff city centre where the atmosphere is always electric.

Concerts galore

Watching your favourite artist on TV is one thing, but seeing them perform live is an immersive experience. The Spice Girls were so 2019, this year brings you the Stereophonics, Westlife, Little Mix, Lionel Richie, Michael Bublé, and Stormzy. These concerts are being held at a variety of locations around Wales from stately homes to large arena tours. All you have to do is decide which singer, band or group is your favourite!

Something for foodies

New restaurant openings, award-winning menus and Michelin star chefs, Wales has them all! The Hardwick in Abergavenny has been named as one of the best pubs in the whole of the UK in the coveted Estrella Damm 50 Best Gastropubs list. Michelin-starred chef James Sommerin and Masterchef contestant Tom Simmons are also opening restaurants in Wales this year. Give your tastebuds something to celebrate by trying a delicious dish or two.

Festival festivities

For a fun-filled family day out there are several festivals taking place throughout the year. Annual food festivals are being held in Abergavenny and Newport as well as the popular Usk and Monmouth agricultural shows, celebrating the best local produce, talents and trades. Music festivals include Inside Out Festival in Cardiff, Balter Festival in Chepstow and the Green Man Festival in Crickhowell. Festivals offer so much for all the family, and are a great way of spending some quality time together.

Fun for all the family

If you’re looking for events to enjoy with the kids, it’s worth noting down these dates. In April, Disney on Ice presents a Magical Ice Festival at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena. For those of you whose children love Paw Patrol, the pups will be bringing their live show to Cardiff in the summer.
