Covid19 lockdown has affected us all in many different ways. We are now realising how hard teaching is, and how much we are capable of eating in just one day! Mealtimes have become a chore, finding new ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner repetitive. Luckily your local restaurants have found a way to safely bring good food direct to your door.

Local businesses need their local community more than ever and some have adapted their services to provide you with their food giving you a night off from wondering what to cook next. We have found some local restaurants who are offering a takeaway or delivery service while we remain on lockdown.

Celtic Manor

The renowned 5* Celtic Manor Hotel Resort has released ‘Celtic at Home’, allowing customers to stay connected, and bring the Celtic Manor experience to your home. Offering tasty takeaways to include Afternoon Tea, Sharing platters and Sunday lunch. You can also attend their digital events online.

The Gate

The widely known restaurant situated in Llanfrechfa, is now delivering meals from their mouth-watering menu. The options include Steak, Italia and BBQ packs, as well as chilled ready meals, all delivered to a wide area including Usk, Risca and Pontypool.

The Pod

Be quick as the popular Sunday lunches here are selling out fast via the home delivery service offered. Alongside this, The Pod are also inviting their followers to spare a few pounds to treat our local NHS heroes. You can pay for a healthy and nutritious meal to be delivered to an NHS worker, giving them one less thing to think about while they’re saving lives.

Three Mughals

This award-winning Indian restaurant in Rogerstone is still open for delivery, even giving the NHS and Police staff an extra 10% off all orders. You can treat yourself to a takeaway any night of the week with their excellent service.

The Goldcroft Inn

Another local adapting to the current climate is the Goldcroft Inn, based in Caerleon. As well as Sunday lunch, they offer an innovative ‘Pub Rescue Pack’ so you can enjoy a drink and snack from your local in your own back garden.

North Street Bar & Grill

From Sunday lunches to Afternoon Tea, North Street Bar and Grill are making isolation a little more bearable, delivering to all homes throughout Newport. Choose from a menu of scrumptious starters to delicious desserts.

Don’t forget Desserts

On the subject of desserts, we are lucky enough to have a variety of amazing businesses that create a selection of homemade treats and desserts, who also deliver to your door. These local delights include brownies, cheesecakes and waffles. A couple of our favourites are Beth’s Bakes who regularly sell out of their brownies and cheesecakes, and Molly’s CupCakery who deliver their goodies to your door, as well as direct to our frontline workers to enjoy on their well-earned breaks.

We hope that we have inspired you to eat local, not just in these uncertain times, but to also support your local restaurants once lockdown is over. We will continue to support our local community, and look forward to seeing you on the other side.
