Moving day can be chaotic, saying goodbye to one home and hello to a new one. Surrounded by boxes, you can be left wondering where to start, and it’s been revealed that the majority of us unpack the kettle before we get on with the task at hand. A recent survey by Redrow found that 58% of homeowners grabbed their kettle before any other item when unpacking a new home.

We’re not surprised by this, as the first thing we do in our office is grab a cuppa before we settle down to help our clients move. As we can often be out and about on viewings and valuations we have found some wonderful coffee shops on our travels. Here are some of our favourite places when you’re in need of a cuppa – and maybe a cake, too!

Cabin Cwtch – Langstone

It hasn’t been open a year yet but Cabin Cwtch has really made a name for itself in the local community, welcoming visitors and their four-legged friends for a coffee and a cake. Also offering breakfast and lunch, if you need a break from moving you can enjoy a bite to eat before heading back to the hordes of unpacked boxes.

The Snug – Caerleon

Nestled in the Ffwrwm on Caerleon’s high street is the very popular Snug. Situated in a famous Roman village, the café embraces its heritage and invites visitors to enjoy a coffee or home-cooked meal in the grounds of a truly unique sculpture garden.

The Hummingbird – Abergavenny

Located on the Llanover country estate, the Hummingbird is a quaint coffee shop serving light lunches and homemade cakes and scones. After your coffee, you can take a walk along the beautiful Monmouthshire Brecon Canal.

Number Forty Nine – Usk

Perfectly mixing tea with interiors, this independent coffee house is situated on Bridge Street in the picturesque town of Usk. Whether you fancy a pot of tea or a prosecco, Number Forty Nine is the perfect place to spend the afternoon, especially in the summer in the cosy yet colourful garden.

Seasons Coffee House – Rogerstone

The specials board at Seasons Coffee House reveals tempting breakfast bagels and lunchtime luxuries, but what will keep you coming back for more is their impressive selection of homemade cakes. We can recommend their cream egg cheesecakes, the perfect Easter treat.

Oriel Café - Cwmbran

Just a short walk from Cwmbran’s boating lake is the Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre’s Oriel Café. Sit amongst the trees as you enjoy a relaxing break and choose from a freshly ground coffee, tea served from a vintage teapot, or traditional lemonade.

Parc Pantry – Malpas

This popular coffee shop in Malpas offers fresh, local food and amazing signature smoothies. The store is also filled with an array of home accessories and furnishings. Not only can you enjoy a slice of delicious home-baked cakes, but you can leave with something lovely for your home, too.
