Bike sales have soared as families find their love for cycling, and commuters find a new way to travel. While parks, beauty spots, and mountain walks are closed to the public, cycle paths have become a place to enjoy the summer weather with your family, escaping the four walls we’ve become accustomed to.

Bicycles have helped many of us through the pandemic, we have all adjusted to this new way of life in one way or another so if you’re planning on getting on your bike this week, discover these cycle paths near where you live.

Celtic Trail East

The Celtic Trail travels into the heart of the South Wales Valleys featuring panoramic views, rich wildlife and amazing heritage sites. The total trail is 145 miles long taking over 7 hours to complete but if you’re not looking for such a challenging ride you can choose which part to enjoy.

Clydach Gorge

The scenery high above the Clydach Gorge is simply stunning, this route travels between the village of Llanfoist and Brynmawr, with just one steep section. At only 7 miles long the picturesque trail has breathtaking views of the Brecon Beacons, Sugar Loaf and Skirrid Mountains.

Peregrine Path

Follow the River Wye from the historic market town of Monmouth, to Goodrich in Herefordshire. This 8-mile ride is normally one of our favourites as it passes by several pubs and quaint shops for us to stop in and enjoy a quick pit stop.

Newport to Caerleon

This popular cycle path is situated on our doorstep passing through the village of Caerleon, boasting a wealth of Roman history, artwork and pretty views all set along the River Usk. As well as cyclists you will pass dog walkers and even a family of piglets in Pwll Mawr Lanes.

South East Wales Castle Tour

For those of you who are keen cyclists and interested in local history, this route is perfect for you. The ride is over 75 miles and passes by Cardiff Castle, Castell Coch, Caerphilly Castle, Newport Castle, Chepstow Castle and Caldicot Castle.
